What do you think of when you read those words? We think of one more word: Patriotism. Patriotism is a love of and loyalty to one’s country. We at USA1st believe that the United States of America is the best and most giving country in history, and we are proud to say we are patriots, that we are Americans.
Those seven words at the top are from our military, but they have importance for every one of us. They are the values that have kept our country great, and they should be taught in every school. Wouldn’t you want your child to internalize and follow those words? Wouldn’t you be interested in supporting an education that included those strong, patriotic values?
Parents are incredibly important to the education of a child. That is why an important aspect of the USA1st approach and program includes parents in the central educational relationship.
We bring a powerful multimedia educational experience to schools with the goal of showing to students how lucky we all are to live in America, to understand the many freedoms and privileges that we have, and to gain an appreciation for the underlying values that make this country great, regardless of political party or religious beliefs.
You, the parents, are a critically important piece of this educational experience. We want you to be at the event, to share the moment with your child and teachers, using it as a springboard to talk about some very important issues with your child. The USA 1st presentation is designed to get conversations flowing between parents and children and between the school and parents.
What does it mean to be an American?
From its inception, our country has been a champion for freedom and human rights. Our Declaration of Independence and Constitution were huge steps forward in terms of human freedom:
We hold certain Truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

These words are still true today. But they won’t remain possible, even in America, if people are not prepared to devote time and energy to protect them.
Patriotism – the idea of country before self – can exist only if the seeds are planted when young. True patriotism is acknowledging that no country is perfect, but still loving the core principles of it enough to learn about and participate in the daily evolution of it into an even better place to live.

The USA1st program serves to underscore the positive values that have made this country great and to foster feelings of patriotism toward the U.S.A.
